PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Thank you for visiting the Dedham School website! Our school is a Pre-K through Grade 8 School located on Route 1A in Hancock County. With a student population of approximately 160 students, Dedham School offers small class sizes while still being able to provide a variety of athletics and clubs to create a well-rounded educational experience for our students.

Dedham School welcomes you and your family to the 2024-2025 School Year. We are committed to do all we can to make this school year a successful experience for every student. Our staff takes pride in fostering a climate and culture where all students feel like a valued, supported, and accepted member of an exciting learning community. At Dedham School we strive to create a true sense of community through whole-school activities such as weekly assemblies, holiday lunches, and performances. Teachers also provide numerous opportunities for elementary and middle school students to partner together throughout the year to form connections between grade levels and provide mentoring experiences for older students. It is not uncommon for visitors to Dedham School to see sixth graders sharing their writing with their second grade buddies or seventh graders reading to kindergarteners. Students say that these buddy activities are some of their favorite experiences of being at Dedham School!

The Dedham School staff encourages parents to be involved in our school. Research clearly demonstrates that when parents and the school work together to help children, the results are positive. To help your child be successful at school, families can emphasize the importance of education by doing the following:

  • Ensure that your child is at school on time each day.

  • Monitor your child’s homework daily.

  • Read with your child or encourage your child to read daily.

  • Expect and support positive behavior at school.

  • Maintain regular communication with your child’s teacher.

  • Attend parent/teacher conferences and school events.

Dedham School has a very active volunteer program and we encourage anyone with an interest to take advantage of the numerous volunteer opportunities available. Volunteers make a tremendous impact on our school and positively enrich the educational experience for our students. Another way to get involved is through our Parents, Teachers, Friends (PTF) group. Please contact the school office to find out more about these opportunities. By working together as a team, we can ensure every child experiences Dedham as a positive, safe, and caring learning community.

We look forward to working with you to make this an exciting and successful year for our students. Thank you in advance for your support and commitment. If you have any questions, please contact me at 843-6498 or lclement@dedhamschool.net
